Aspesi: Italian Elegance, Without the Frills

Aspesi: Italian Elegance, Without the Frills

Founded in 1969 in Legnano, near Milan, by Alberto Aspesi, the house began as a shirt manufacturer before becoming a benchmark of Italian ready-to-wear for both women and men. At a time when Parisian haute couture set the tone for fashion, the Italian ready-to-wear industry chose a different path — one built on material research, wearable elegance, and function without compromise. It's in this spirit that Aspesi was born.

By the end of the 1970s, the house expanded its offering and collaborated with celebrated designers such as Franco Moschino and Walter Albini. It was through this collaboration that one of Aspesi's most iconic pieces was born: the down jacket. Until then considered a purely technical garment, it became — thanks to the house — an urban, timeless staple, an idea born from a conversation between Alberto Aspesi and Franco Moschino, who lent his name to the design.

Since 2020, Lawrence Steele, former creative director of Marni, has led the house's creative vision, all while preserving its founding philosophy: no logos, no spectacle — just pieces designed to last.

A craft built on fabric

What sets Aspesi apart is its constant, almost obsessive research into textiles. Each season, the house explores new and unexpected materials — a rigour that guarantees impeccable quality, season after season. This same exacting standard runs through its advertising campaigns, shot by photographers such as Peter Lindbergh, Robert Frank, and Paolo Roversi.
