Pierre-Louis Mascia: Fashion as Collage

Pierre-Louis Mascia: Fashion as Collage

Trained as an illustrator at the Beaux-Arts de Toulouse, Pierre-Louis Mascia built his early career creating visuals for Vogue US, ELLE, Chanel and Yohji Yamamoto before launching his eponymous brand in 2007. The turning point came through a chance meeting with the Uliassi brothers, owners of Achille Pinto — an Italian silk-printing house in Como with over 80 years of expertise. Together, they began developing a small collection of scarves, the brand's founding piece.

A designer, not a stylist

Mascia describes himself less as a fashion designer than as a "dessinateur" — a draughtsman. His signature is instantly recognisable: bold, layered prints built through collage, where a page from an old book, a vintage wallpaper, or the way books sit on a shelf can all become the starting point for a design. "It all comes from the guts," he says, letting the work speak for itself.

What began as a scarf collection has grown into a full lifestyle offering — ready-to-wear, knitwear, bags, and home pieces — while staying true to its founding DNA: refined, minimal silhouettes contrasted with an explosion of colour and pattern.
